About Betterbee

Can you share a little about Betterbee’s history?

“Bob and Margaret Stevens founded Betterbee in 1979. Through a combination of their passion for beekeeping and their mission to serve fellow beekeepers, Betterbee grew from a local beekeeping supply company to a national one.

“In 2012, Joe Cali, Chris Cripps, and Jack Rath took over the business with Neal Kober and John Rath joining as partners two years later.

“Over the next five years, the five partners built an international relationship with Lyson, one of Europe’s largest beekeeping supply manufacturers. Together, they developed business practices to help minimize back orders and ship orders more quickly and more efficiently.

“The collaboration created a strong and sustainable local queen-rearing program. It also introduced many new and innovative products to the market.

“Looking toward the future, the Betterbee family is excited to continue helping beekeepers nationwide learn, grow, and succeed through excellent customer service, continued education, and quality beekeeping tools and equipment.”

How big is the business today?

“All of Betterbee’s customer service and order fulfillment takes place at our Greenwich, New York facility. We have 40 employees there who take orders, pick out the items, pack, and ship them out.

“Also, we have a storefront open to the public. It features an indoor observation hive showing a live honey bee colony in action.

“The Betterbee facility is a one-stop shop for all things beekeeping.”

What’s the biggest challenge your team has faced and how were you able to overcome it?

We are a very small team. An official marketing department of one, plus a couple of helping hands here and there.

“Recently, I had to design, print, and ship flyers to a trade show location across the country within five days. Talk about a stressful situation! Thankfully, I was able to design and get copy approved within a day.

I had to print and ship quickly. Here’s where NextDayFlyers came through for me. They printed high-quality, glossy, and eye-catching flyers within 24 hours—and even shipped the printed flyers right to the show location! Share on X

“The process was so completely seamless that I’ve repeated it a couple of times for other last-minute projects.”

Celebrating Beekeepers Every Year

Thanks for printing brochures for your annual event. How was your printing experience?

“I created small 8″ x 9″ bifold brochures for our Annual Betterbee Field Day that takes place each June. Unfortuately, I picked the incorrect size without realizing it when placing my order online. Thankfully, someone from NextDayFlyers reached out to let me know.

The quick turnaround—without sacrificing quality—is what makes NextDayFlyers our go-to printing website. Share on X

“NextDayFlyers refunded me the difference, which made my day! To top it all off, the bifolds turned out great. Everyone at the event was impressed with the vibrant, high-quality printing. The quick turnaround—without sacrificing quality—is what makes NextDayFlyers our go-to printing website.”
